The poems in this book represent a wonderful range of voices and even definitions of what a poem is--a stark contrast to the common notion that workshops result in a blending of styles. Sometimes the interest is in the narrative line; other times it is in a certain humor, irony or cleverness; some poems, in their complexity, ask to be re-read, but the second reading pays off; other poems engage with important social issues that involve us all. Often the appeal of a poem is in the authenticity of the voice detailing events and feelings that may be painful, angry, joyous--anything but indifferent.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Robert Longoni has taught creative writing and poetry classes for over twenty years. His poetry has appeared in numerous periodicals and the anthology, Poetry of the Desert Southwest. His poetry collection, Woodpiles, was published in 1997.
Tom Speer is a full-time instructor of poetry, literature and writing at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. His first book of poems, My Father's Shoes, was published in 1997. A second book of poems, Tandem Space: Daughter-Father Poems, co-authored with his daughter, Carmen, was published in 2001. His articles and poems have appeared in a variety of journals and magazines.
