Chicago has ANOTHER SOUTHSIDE!
Hidden in plain sight.
Enigmatic and complex.
Full of intrigue, and as dangerous as you can imagine.
Just the sort of place Jake Thompson, the city's quirkiest crime fighter, would ply his trade.

Del Staecker is a hidden gem in the literary community—nothing short of a magician. His character development and plot twists are equaled only by his versatility in both content and style. ANOTHER SOUTHSIDE is ample proof of his talents.

Relegated to the dregs of duties, contrarian Detective Jake Thompson waits for retirement, avoiding official interaction, using a local coffee shop as his unofficial office. But while part of him wants to be left alone, that’s rarely an option in “Another Southside”, where Jake winds up facing all manner of mayhem and a host of unbelievable denizens, made thoroughly believable by Staecker’s way with words. It’s Jake’s essence you’ll come to appreciate. With the turning of a phrase and evocative description, Staecker brings Jake to life.

If you’re from Chicago, you will undoubtedly relate. But even if you can’t find the Windy City on a map, if you want a great read, this is it. And if you’re drawn to police drama, you’ll love it. Del is also one of the very few writers who pens like a native, no matter what locale forms the backdrop of his stories Del writes like an insider as his characters take you along on an intriguing ride.

You know the old joke, “that’s several hours I wish I had back”. In the case of “Another Southside”, I yearn for several more hours and can’t wait to see what Staecker creates next.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Born in Blue Island, Illinois, Del Staecker grew up in two very different worlds: The surreal artist's community of Chicago's Old Town (where the likes of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and Bob Dylan hung out at his Uncle Erling's exotic bird shop), and the small town normalcy of Boy Scouts, Little League baseball, and working on his relatives' farms. Currently, this Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Executive Committee member of the International Association of Crime Writers lives in his Pennsylvania home, which is shared by his wife, the stories that must be told, and the colorful characters in his head.
