Inhaltsangabe

Year of The Cat is an enchanting and informative new book for all children interested in other Cultures, Places [here it’s New York City’s Chinatown] and Cats! For juvenile readers, the story follows 8-year-old Ying as she celebrates the myths, customs and excitement of Chinese New Year while trying to turn the ancient Chinese Zodiac on its head. Ying shares her own observations and opinions about what makes Chinese New Year the ‘best’, introduces us to her family (including cats) and takes us along on her Year of the Cat campaign, all captured in Josie Yee’s colorful, exquisitely detailed illustrations. It is truly a book about the joy of holidays with family, with the extra, added anticipation that surrounds the arrival of a new sibling.
