She spent part of her growing up years on a 60,000-acre cattle ranch in South Texas where When the Cowboy Rides Away is set. She personally know several cowboys, and many of her ranch scenes were written from first-hand experience. A popular country song warns mamas not to let their babies grow up to be cowboys, but all three of Molly’s and her husband’s sons did just that.
