In a textbook for undergraduate students of language acquisition, Levey tries to explain complex concepts at that level, and presents an integrated view of the various factors that play an important role in children's acquisition of language. She covers theories of language development; the brain and cognitive, speech, and language development; language development in infants and toddlers, in preschool, in middle and late childhood, and in adolescence; the development of literary skills; bilingual children's language development: assessment and intervention; and language development and hearing.
