He was known as the godfather of Chinese dissidents. The book was originally a collection of passionate letters, representing his deep reflections on related social issues, which he wrote from the prison in Beijing to his daughter as a prisoner of conscience, a loving father with great expectations for his daughter, and a world citizen who wished to realize people of the myths about mankind.
