Emily turned – a huge yellow-white spinning disc came out of the sky, a ferris wheel on its side, spinning madly until all its lights were a blur, accompanied by a sound at a timbre beyond hearing. Emily felt the sound in her skeleton, in her blood, in the gelatinous humor of her eyeballs. She crumpled to her knees as the swirling power created an electrical vortex – she heard her skin crackle as the wheat had done. So beyond fear as to nearly feel nothing, Emily took in what she saw. A disc, made of two huge, curved plates, back to back, the top one whirled clockwise, the bottom one anti-clockwise. It’s as big as the barn, Emily thought, trying in a trance-like way to attach concrete meaning to the vision. The gigantic rotating disc moved intentionally and in an apparent pattern about the field. Then, suddenly, it went straight up into the sky until it winked out, lost in a deluge of stars....

Dr. Blythe Ayne lives on ten acres of forest in Washington state, writing and caring for the flora and fauna. A psychotherapist in private practice for over 20 years, she now lectures and teaches on the subjects of self-fulfillment, meditation techniques, and healthy body, mind and soul. She also teaches creative writing and has been published in excess of a thousand fiction and nonfiction, online and print, venues under her name, pen names, and ghost writings. She has received numerous writing awards and grants, including the PEN Syndicated Fiction project, SFPA award, CCLM grants, National Endowment for the Arts grants, and others.
