The creator of the immortal characters Tarzan of the Apes and John Carter of Mars, Edgar Rice Burroughs is one of the world's most popular authors. Casper Van Dien starred in the 1998 Warner Bros. feature film Tarzan and the Lost City, becoming the twentieth screen Tarzan, and the only Tarzan actor to ride an actual African elephant on set in Africa.
