Sylvia Mader is the author of "A Water Lily Blooms," a novel that introduces us to the tumultuous life of Andie Bradford, who was raised on lovely Martha's Vineyard, but goes away to college and medical school on the mainland. Andie marries Dan Jamison, an African American she meets on the Vineyard. Together they have three daughters, each of whom pursues her own unique path to find happiness in this novel, Sylvia's second, "When the Bluebirds Sing." Sylvia Mader was a professor of Biology who wrote several biology textbooks widely adopted in colleges and universities. Lately, she has turned her writing skills to the publication of novels that feature the aspirations of college-age students who want to contribute to making this a better world. Sylvia has had a home on Martha's Vineyard these past thirty years, and she enjoys sharing her love of the island with the readers of her novels.
