Two years later, you are an adult. While out with your pack, you smell the air to find nearby prey. Give it a try. Lift your nose and sniff.

You catch the scent of deer. Your pack slinks to a clearing in the forest, where two deer graze on the grass. One is a strong buck with large antlers. The other is an older deer with an injured leg.

The strong buck has more meat for the pack. The injured buck is slow and easier to catch. You can’t go after both. Which one should you hunt?

The strong deer?
or
The injured deer?

Choose one. Then go to the next page.

Wolf packs can take down large prey, such as deer, elk, and moose. But some wolves can get killed during hunts. So wolves often target sick, young, and injured animals. You should hunt the injured deer.

Did you make the right choice?
