Inhaltsangabe

The Insurrectionists, in the style of Mario Puzo's The Godfather, is the first installment of a planned trilogy of novels about Cuban-American exiles in the decades after the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion. In this volume, set in the 1960s, a handsome young survivor of the debacle marries his brother's tormented widow and rises to become a rich and powerful Miami businessman—without shedding his ties to the violent anti-Castro underground and the CIA.

"Tomas Marín is one hell of a creation. Alex Abella drags him out of the swamps of the Bay of Pigs into the CIA’s dirty war on Castro. The killers, the spies, and the true believers. Hustlers, lovers, and the making of modern Miami against the crash of the 1960s American assassination culture. That would be enough for most novels. But this is Abella country: his heart is in every hot, stubborn inch of it. The humor and the hunger. The music, the family, the rage. The magic of Cuban South Florida. The Insurrectionists has blood on its hands and cafecito in its veins. And pulsing across every page, amor in all its particulars and peculiarities and passions. I loved it." --Michael Beckner, author of The Spy Games series
