Modern professionals are drowning in distractions, endless notifications, and the constant pressure to be "always on." Yet behind the buzzwords of "productivity" and "hustle," something critical has been stolen―our ability to think deeply, work meaningfully, and live intentionally.
In Just Leave Me Alone So I Can Work, Michael Gardon, a self-proclaimed "corporate misfit," exposes the hidden systems that steal your time and your life from under your nose. Drawing on his personal transformation from disillusioned corporate consultant to independent entrepreneur and coach, Gardon offers a field-tested framework for achieving what he calls Time Sovereignty: the ability to control your own attention, energy, and schedule.
This book dismantles the myths of traditional time management and offers a radically practical alternative. Gardon introduces The Houdini Formula, a step-by-step system for escaping the traps of fake urgency and shallow work. You'll learn to:
Diagnose the "Great Time Heist" happening in your own career
Shift from time renter to time owner thinking
Apply the Scarcity Principle and Strategic Visibility to earn autonomy and respect
Build communication architecture that keeps your boss off your back
Redesign your environment to protect focus and flow
Extend these practices into your personal life to reclaim time for family, creativity, and purpose
Through real stories, neuroscience-backed insights, and practical exercises, Just Leave Me Alone So I Can Work helps readers break free from corporate conditioning and rediscover what work and life can feel like when you're truly in control of your time.
Whether you're a burned-out executive, remote worker, or creative professional craving clarity and control, this book is your blueprint for unplugging from distraction culture and building a life defined by focus, freedom, and fulfillment.

Michael Gardon is the CEO of Rejoin Coaching, where he inspires, supports, and coaches a community of 14,000+ to break their relationship with work in order to design intentional, self-directed lives.
He is an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Edgewood University, a former derivative trader, a former Fortune 500 Innovation Consultant, and a 3x entrepreneur.
In 2018, Mike decided corporate work wasn't working for him anymore, so he engineered his break by designing the life he wanted first, then methodically building his "side hustle", then scaling it into a million-dollar business that fuels his purpose for coaching others through the same life-changing transformation.
When Mike isn't teaching or inspiring corporate executives, he's on the playing field coaching his 3 young boys in every sport imaginable.
