Shaw was born in south Texas and served in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1987 through 1991 as a Communications Radio Operator, at the Military Auxillary Radio System (MARS Station) at Kelly AFB, Texas. She spends her days writing stories of the apocalypse and her evenings wandering around the hills of Idaho.
