About the Author: Steven Michael Pape was born in 1974 in Ilkeston,Derbyshire, England, his first published collection was in 2009 with his dark poetry book, 'An Awakening Soul' followed in 2010 with 'Escapism'. Steven is a regular contributer to several publications including newspapers, zines and FM Anthology a book created in America by the late Poet Lewis Crystal to highlight the work of poets from around the world, FM is still being edited and published by Rose Terranova Cirigliano today. Steven has also worked closely with other artists and regularly has his work exhibited with the D.A.N network in England, which highlights artists with disabilities as well as promoting the work of other local poets and artists. In 2017 Steven teamed up with British photographer Alan Davidson to publish, 'Life in the past frame' a book comprising poems and photos to add the visual aspect to the words, the book was to raise money for the Nightingale Cancer ward in Derby, U.K and a book signing/promotion night was a huge fund raising success. With this new book, 'A weapon called the word', Steven has written eight books, and continues to write constantly drawing on observations in his life and those around him in society. He describes the concept of writing poetry as total freedom, a chance to step outside the box and write what he and others are thinking and discussing, that people can hopefully relate to.
