These essays were written over the last 20 years or so as I traveled to many countries of the world. I reflected on my life in education, my family, and the world in which we live. I also made referances to impactful leaders and thinkers who assisted my development as a leader. Included are reflections on China, Israel, Cambodia, South Africa, Japan, and the Persian Gulf Region. My personal reflections include my time at the Peralta District (Oakland CA), growing up on a small town, my parents, and leadership. This has been a delightful journey!

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Paul Elsner received his doctorate from Stanford University and completed study at the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. He is the Senior Editor of the book, Global Development of Community, Technical College and Further Education Programs that covers 35 countries. He served on the Foundation Board of Trustees for Sias International University in Zhengzhou, China. He has spoken and consulted in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Ireland, England, South Africa and other countries. His previous appointments include chairing of the ETS Board at Princeton and the ACT Board at Iowa. He has also served as president of the Board for the League for Innovation in the Community Colleges and numerous Washington-based educational organizations. He served as the chancellor for the Maricopa Community Colleges, a 10-system organization, for 23 years. He developed a Water, Global Warming, Climate Change and Over-Development Conference at Sias International University, the Peoples Republic of China in May 2013. Among his numerous achievements, he gave the Third Robert Atwell Distinguished Lecture. He followed the first lecturer, Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations; the second lecturer was Neil Rudenstine, Harvard president. Elsner is the recipient of the Business-Higher Education Anderson Medal, the Marie Martin Leadership Award and holds Honorary Degrees from Arizona State University, the Northern Arizona University and the W. K. Fellowship for Doctoral Studies at Stanford University. Paul Elsner served on the New Skills Commission (www.skillscommission.org), a Washington DC-based commission of former congressmen, cabinet members and academic leaders. Marc Tucker, Executive Direction of the National Center on Education and the Economy, facilitated the Skills Commission. A six state pilot project was recommended that included the implementation of the reform strategy in its report, Tough Choices or Tough Times. Arizona was one of the six pilot states. Dr. Elsner conducts his own business under Paul Elsner Associates and is President and Founder of The Sedona Conversations (www.sedonaconversations.com) and The Sedona-Edge Forms (www.sedona-edge.com). Both of these hold conferences on a variety of topics in various countries.
