Reseña del editor:
The life and work of the Romanian-born Brancusi, considered one of the most influential sculptors of the twentieth century, are being celebrated in a major exhibition traveling to Europe and America.

Almost from the beginning of his career, Brancusi began to break away from naturalism, confronting his sculptural subjects with purely abstract form. While the smooth and often geometric forms of his sculptures may reflect Art Deco design, his work remains strikingly modern.

This text by a close friend of Brancusi's defines the artist's place in the development of twentieth-century art; it is followed by an in-depth biography by Brancusi's heirs. Illustrated throughout with photographs both of the artist in his studio and of his sculpture, this work is a fascinating account of a great artist.
