Henry Gunther, employé à la National bank of Baltimore, est mobilisé en 1917 dans les rangs américains et rejoint aussitôt le front français. Ecrivain passionné, nouvellement scénariste, auteur de science-fiction et de nouvelles pour la jeunesse ainsi que de petites mélodies pour guitare classique, Roger Faindt est touché par l'universalité des sentiments humains qu'il explore dans ses romans. Il a reçu le prix Louis Pergaud 2001 pour La Lettre de Charlotte.
