Very attractively produced monograph provides graduate students and researchers with a detailed account of a geometrical structure which derives its interest not least from the fact that it lies at the foundation of modern classical (Hamiltonian) mechanics. Indeed, it is the physical application which serves mainly to structure the exposition. Clear but necessarily rather abstract. Many of the results reported are of recent date, and original to the author and his associates at Moscow State University. Absurdly priced, but of enduring value.
