This textbook is for the engineering dynamics course, a fundamental part of mechanical and aeronautical engineering undergraduate curricula. The approach is three-dimensional from the outset, and vector algebra, elements of linear algebra, and differential calculus are used throughout. Following chapters on the mechanics of a single particle and a system of particles, the main part of the book is devoted to three-dimensional kinematics and kinetics of rigid bodies. It includes a chapter on configurations of rigid bodies in space – a subject which is particularly relevant to modern robot kinematics. As supplements, the text contains some clearly indicated advanced sections and an introduction to Lagrangian mechanics. To help the students, detailed explanations and simulated conversations clarify the more challenging sections.
