The requirements confronting our workplaces have recently undergone a dramatic transformation. Constantly shifting workspace populations and varying uses of workspace call for flexible spatial structures, and so do new professions and innovative working methods. The plannung of workspaces is influenced by the digitalization of our storage media as well as by new materials and building technologies. And yet for all the importance of flexibility and technology, the ultimate focus is still on human beings. In keeping with the typological approach of the series, this volume of the series In Detail presents the various work environments organized according to use. The focus throughout is on the successful interplay between technical standards, organizational structures, and human needs.

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren
Studium der Architektur. 1984-1991 Mitarbeit in verschiedenen Architekturbüros in München und publizistische Tätigkeit (u. a. Herausgabe eines Reisebildbandes im Selbstverlag). 1991 Redakteur, seit 1992 verantwortlicher Redakteur, seit 1998 Chefredakteur der Zeitschrift DETAIL, München. Unter seiner Mitwirkung bzw. Verantwortung entwickelte sich DETAIL zu einer der führenden Fachzeitschriften für Architekten mit internationaler Verbreitung. Autor und Herausgeber zahlreicher Fachbücher und Fachartikel. Inhaltliche Verantwortung auch für das Buchprogramm von DETAIL.

Studied architecture at Munich University of Technology; followed by seven years of practical experience, journalistic work; since 1991: editorial staff of DETAIL, magazine for architecture and architectural details; editor since 1992, editor-in-chief since 1998; Author and publisher of numerous specialist publications and articles.
