Seit fast fünfzig Jahren wurde das Gebäude in der Architekturgeschichte und -theorie in erster Linie als Mittel und nicht als Zweck verstanden. Dieser Band stellt eine Alternative zu diesem Trend dar, indem das Gebäude neu als eine eigene, zentrale diskursive Kategorie gedacht wird. Die Mitwirkenden, darunter Wissenschaftler und Architekten aus weltbekannten Institutionen, wollen architektonische Gestaltungskompetenz neu als eigene Domäne des Wissens fassen, indem das Objekt der Architektur als ein primäres Anliegen verstanden wird. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
JOSÉ ARAGÜEZ ist ein in New York ansässiger, unabhängiger Architekt und Schriftsteller mit Berufserfahrung in Büros in Spanien (Antonio J. Torrecillas), den Niederlanden (MVRDV) und London (Idom/ACXT). Er ist Lehrbeauftragter für Architektur an der Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation und Doktorand für Architekturgeschichte und -theorie der an der Universität Princeton.
