This is achieved through close textual analysis of the subversive thematics and idiosyncratic forms of six films made by some of the best-known and most celebrated contemporary Greek directors including Dogtooth (2009) and Alps (2011) by Yorgos Lanthimos, Strella (2009) by Panos H. Koutras, and Attenberg (2010) by Athina-Rachel Tsangaris.

Dr Marios Psaras is an independent film scholar and filmmaker. He has taught film theory at King's College London and Queen Mary University of London and has published on contemporary Greek and French queer cinema. His current research interests include new media and ethics. Psaras has also worked as a film curator, as well as in the radio, television and the theatre.
