Even ‘emoticons’ offering a way out of wordiness and creatively solving the problem of being unable to see facial expressions or hear tones of voice in typed correspondence. They provide substitute for words and sentences. To sum up, email, SMS, blogging, twittering, social networking sites tell people write the way they speak less like they used to write. Technology driven language makes use of the phonetic part of the language and uses only those words, which are absolutely necessary eliminating redundant words.

Dr. Preeti Joshi has obtained her Ph.D. degree in English Language and Communication in 2016. She is the author of several articles published in reputed international journals and is a lifetime member of CCIS (Centre of Contemporary Indian Studies), University of Colombo. She has been awarded internationally for her research.
