The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is one of the most efficient and effective custom power devices to protect the sensitive equipment against voltage sag and voltage harmonics due to its lower cost, smaller size and dynamic response. The inverter is the core component of the DVR, and its control directly affects the performance of the DVR. The prime goal of the book is to investigate and compare the performances of the conventional controller with the proposed intelligent controllers and particle swarm optimization based PI controller of DVR in mitigating power quality disturbances. All the proposed techniques are effective to restore the sensitive load voltage to the pre-fault value and make it smooth under different cases of faults and nonlinear load condition. The simulation results showed that the load voltage was compensated fully within the permissible THD limit for all the proposed controllers.

Dr. Sathish Babu Pandu, Assistant professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Anna University-University College of Engineering, Panruti obtained his Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai.
