The Jarlsblood-Saga is a twelve-volume epic about the young Viking Warrior Einar Thordsson in the brutal and bloody world of the 9th century, set on a small island in the great fjord of Lade. The son of a fisherman, with a secret of his origins, fights his way to the highchair in the great shield hall of Tautra and becomes a Jarl of King Grjotgard Herlaugsson. Jarl Einar's story continues! Impetuous and full of energy, the shield maidens rushed into battle and the fight began. When Grjotgard, King of Trøndelag, learns through treachery who started the battle against Horik, King of Denmark, he demands punishment. But Einar, the jarl of Tautra, the small island in the great fjord of Lade, refuses to hand over the shield maiden Thordis, his foster sister and former wife, thus incurring the wrath of the king. Now he has fallen out of favor with his former patron, he himself faces punishment for his disobedience. The traitor is quickly caught, but before the jarl can punish the man, he manages to steal the sword Blood Eye and flee from the jarl's camp with it. So Einar sets out in search of his precious sword and the fugitive traitor, and this leads him back to the land of his ancestors.

Rainer W. Grimm was born in 1964 as the second son of a family of miners. After finishing school, the author trained in two trades. At the age of 35, however, he discovered his love for writing and penned his first book, which was self-published in 2005. That single Viking novel grew into a trilogy, and the warriors from the North never let go of the author. This led to further exciting book series set in the era of the infamous Nordic warriors. Through years of research, the author has acquired a broad knowledge of the Viking era, which lends authenticity to his stories. He now also writes books in other genres, such as a short crime series. He still lives with his family and two cats in the revitalized Ruhr region of North Rhine-Westphalia.
