Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Shengming Ma is Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, East China Normal University and the Director of State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC). After obtaining his Ph.D. from SIOC, he spent some time with Professors Venanzi (ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and Negishi (Purdue University, Indiana, USA) as a post-doctoral fellow and returned to China as a faculty member of SIOC in 1997. He has authored over 220 scientific publications and received numerous scientific awards including Mr. and Mrs. Sun Chan Memorial Award in Organic Chemistry and the OMCOS Award. He is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Von der hinteren Coverseite

Most organic compounds including natural products are cyclic, thus making the development of new reactions for the efficient construction of cyclic skeletons very important for organic chemistry as well as the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical and fragrance industries and agriculture. Recently, many new advances in classic as well as new cyclization reactions - particularly transition metal-catalyzed or -mediated reactions - have been observed.
The ultimate reference source in this field, these two volumes discuss the latest advances on the reactions leading to the formation of cyclic structures and include chapters presenting the most synthetically attractive cyclization reactions.
Leading chemists from around the world provide authoritative first-hand information, including experimental procedures that offer readers the essential knowledge that has hitherto been unavailable.
An invaluable aid for every organic and catalytic chemist in grasping and applying these new reactions.
