This software is an interactive program (languages English/German) for the calculation of more than 25 thermophysical properties of water and steam based on the industrial formulation IAPWS-IF97. The software allows the calculation of properties at single states for different combinations of input variables. Moreover, properties along isolines can be calculated. This way it is possible to create a user specific personal steam table. In addition, the program allows to calculate up to 33 diagram types for different properties, including the well known h-s, T-s, p-h and p-rho diagrams. All properties in the program can be entered, calculated and displayed in different units (including SI- and US units). In addition to the interactive program, the CD also contains a Dynamic-Link-Library that offers the same functions like the interactive program. This DLL can be used in Microsoft Excel, but can also be linked to user specific programs (Fortran, C, etc.). Bei dieser Software handelt es sich um ein interaktives PC-Programm (Sprachen Englisch/Deutsch) zur Berechnung von mehr als 25 thermophysikalischen Eigenschaften von Wasser und Wasserdampf auf der Grundlage der Industrie-Formulation IAPWS-IF97. Die Software erlaubt die Berechnung von Zustandsgrossen an einzelnen Zustandspunkten fur verschiedene Kombinationen von Eingangsgrossen. Weiterhin konnen Zustandgrossen entlang von Isolinien berechnet werden. Auf diese Weise ist es moglich, eine auf die eigenen Bedurfnisse zugeschnittene Dampftafel zu erstellen. Zusatzlich lassen sich bis zu 33 verschiedene Diagramme unterschiedlicher Zustandsgrossen, einschliesslich der bekannten (h,s), (T,s), (p,h) und (p,rho)-Diagramme, erstellen. Alle Zustandsgrossen konnen in unterschiedlichen Einheiten (u.a. SI- und US Units) eingegeben, berechnet und angezeigt werden. Zusatzlich zum interaktiven Programm befindet sich auf der CD eine Dynamic-Link-Library, die den vollen Funktionsumfang des Programms enthalt. Diese DLL kann in Microsoft Excel oder in benutzerspezifische Programme (Fortran, C, etc.) eingebunden werden.

Wolfgang Wagner is Professor of Thermodynamics at the Ruhr-University Bochum in the position of a chair. His efforts in the scientific working field cover the thermophysical properties of fluids (gases and liquids), in particular the development of multiparameter equations of state and highly-accurate density measurements over large ranges of temperature, pressure, and density. His research works have resulted in more than 150 publications including three books. Prof. Wagner is an active member of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS). Under his supervision, the "IAPWS Formulation 1995 for the Thermodynamic Properties of Ordinary Water Substance for General and Scientific Use" (IAPWS-95) and the "IAPWS Industrial Formulation 1997 for the Thermodynamic Properties of Water and Steam" (IAPWS-IF97) were developed. In 1998 he received the Honorary Fellow Award of IAPWS and in 2003 the Yeram S. Touloukian Award of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for outstanding technical contributions in the field of thermophysical properties. Urs Overhoff studied Mechanical Engineering with the special subject Energy Technology and Chemical Engineering at the Ruhr-University Bochum. At present he is co-worker of Prof. Wagner at the Chair of Thermodynamics at the Ruhr-University Bochum. Wolfgang Wagner ist Professor fur Thermodynamik an der Fakultat fur Maschinenbau der Ruhr-Universitat Bochum. Seine Forschungen liegen im Bereich der thermodynamischen Eigenschaften von fluiden Stoffen (Gase und Flussigkeiten), speziell auf dem Gebiet der Zustandsgleichungen in Referenzqualitat und der Prazisions-Dichtemessungen fluider Stoffe uber grosse Bereiche von Temperatur, Druck und Dichte. Die Ergebnisse seiner Forschungsarbeiten sind in mehr als 150 Veroffentlichungen in uberwiegend internationalen Zeitschriften und in drei Buchern zusammengefasst. Prof. Wagner ist aktives Mitglied der International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS). Unter seiner Leitung wurden die beiden Standard-Zustandsgleichungen fur Wasser, die "IAPWS Formulation 1995 for General and Scientific Use" (IAPWS-95) und die "IAPWS Industrial Formulation 1997 for the Thermodynamic Properties of Water and Steam" (IAPWS-IF97) entwickelt. Im Jahre 1998 erhielt er den Honorary Fellow Award der IAPWS und in 2003 den Yeram S. Touloukian Award der American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) fur hervorragende Forschung auf dem Gebiet der thermophysikalischen Eigenschaften reiner fluider Stoffe und Gemische. Am Lehrstuhl fur Thermodynamik der Ruhr-Universitat Bochum ist er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter von Prof. Wagner.

This software package, developed at the Chair of Thermodynamics of the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, contains an interactive program and a Dynamic-Link-Library (DLL) for the calculation of thermophysical properties of water and steam based on the Industrial Formulation IAPWS-IF97. The interactive software enables the user to calculate single states, whereas different combinations of input variables can be chosen. Further program modules can be used to calculate isolines of the most important properties and to plot 33 different types of diagrams that can be adjusted to user specific needs. The Dynamic-Link-Library can be integrated in user specific programs that are written, for example, in Fortran, C or Basic. With the help of a Microsoft Excel Add-In it is possible to add the functions of the DLL to the standard function volume of Excel. This way, all properties available in the interactive program can be calculated for extensive calculations in an individual way.

The software is presented bilingual in English and German, including a comprehensive help file.
