In less than three decades, AIDS has become one of the most devastating illnesses in human history. The AIDS epidemic differs from most other diseases in many ways, has challenged conventional medical thinking and has broadened the boundaries of knowledge of human biology and medicine. The patterns of disease and pathological changes seen in AIDS patients can be perplexing and challenging, particularly in the Medical Imaging department. As the epidemic continues to spread, AIDS patients are no longer confined to a few specialized AIDS hospitals, and are now seen in general hospitals and clinics everywhere. Therefore there is a need for an AIDS imaging textbook that is not only comprehensive, but also practical and easy to apply to daily clinical problem solving. "Quick reference tables" summarize the radiological abnormalities and imaging finding in AIDS-related disease of each body system.The book has been structured so that each chapter can be read on its own, without requiring referral to other material so that clinical problems can be solved as they arise.
