Current research suggests that families whoexperience neglect have multiple economic andclinical needs. However little is known about theinterrelationship between these diverse needs andwhat kinds of services best alleviate their impact.Service Integration is one promising approach butevidence of effective applications are sparse. Thisbook presents how one agency combined child welfareand economic assistance services; and how familyneeds, services, and family outcomes were addressedin child neglect cases. The findings demonstratethat service integration could be implemented withinlarge bureaucratic systems. It also identifiessubgroups in child neglect cases which can be usedfor the development of specific programs and providemore effective interventions for this particularpopulation. These findings should be beneficial forhuman service personnel, community organizations andothers, in providing services to these families.Furthermore, this analysis provides specificinformation on how to identity what types of policesneed to be in place, what kinds of programs shouldbe created and what type of evaluation is requiredfor service integration.
