Many of these employees work together on projects like the Large Hadron Collider and therefore need a platform to share knowledge and information amongst them. TWiki is a web-based, open source enterprise collaboration software with access control mechanism. In a sensitive research environment like CERN, protecting knowledge from unauthorized viewing is very important. The problem of controlling access for each single user in TWiki would have time-consuming effects. CERN manages employees by centralized accounts in order to access the computer systems. In these accounts, user-specific information such as membership in workgroups is stored. This information can be used to protect TWiki WebPages by giving access to those specific workgroups instead of each user.
