Tehran metropolitan area is presently facing numerous challenges like domination of central and marginal structure in residential system, huge parking lots, insufficient financial resources for development and completing urban infrastructure projects, reduction in domestic and foreign investments in manufacturing lines due to the lack of proper support for market-oriented business activities etc. Needless to say that in this contradictory and complicated atmosphere for Tehran metropolitan area facing various economic, social and physical problems on the one hand and competing with other metropolitan areas of the region to play a decent role in global level, reviewing and restructuring management structure and spatial planning in Tehran metropolitan area are of crucial importance.
