Ayurveda excellences quotes that Diabetes mellitus(DM)as Rich man disease because of its known etiological factor like enjoying the pleasure of life with reduced/no physical activity and leading sedentary life.DM can be understood by Madhumeha in Ayurveda,a type of Prameha.In recent year DM has emerged as a consequential public health issue by becoming an endemic disease and affecting peoples of all age, sex, socio-economic status.It depicted by hyperglycemia with cardinal features of Polyuria, Polydipsia and Polyphagia, which adds up the menace of impairment and disability. Statistic show's that in India presently approx.,32 million people are suffering from diabetes and the future affliction is projected to 80 million by the year 2030.Many herbal drugs are mentioned for Madhumeha in Ayurveda science. Here an attempt is made to analyze the effect of "Godhuma Patra Swarasa (Wheat grass juice)" which is used by many traditional practitioners of India. As though there is no direct reference of use of Godhuma Patra Swarasa but Godhuma has been told as Pathya in Prameha ,by this use of Godhuma patra can be traced out.This analysis showed good result in reducing cardinal features of DM.
Biografía del autor:
Dr.Kashinath Samagandi accomplished his BAMS in 2004,achieved 1st rank in Swasthavritta cadre of P.G.E.T conducted by RGUHS, B'lore, & procured M.D(Ayu) from SDM college of Ayurveda, Hassan. He published 7 papers in peer reviewed international journals and 4 articles in national Journals. presently working in National Institute of Ayurveda,Jaipur.
