In one of the fastest growing economies, India, the living condition of the residents is degrading in inner-city areas. An effective approach to revamping these areas is needed, lest there could be serious repercussions. This work is an exploration of such approaches in the context of ‘smart’ cities. Its purpose is to identify and apply a suitable approach to revamp the living conditions and improve the quality of life in the inner-city areas. It is a study of the Central Area of Bhopal city. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Kanad is an Urban Planner. His interest-area is Smart Cities & Sustainable Development. On this theme he has published numerous research papers in Indian and international journals. His previous book titled 'Planning Smart Neighborhoods in Indian cities' (2016) assesses an evolving relationship of neighborhoods in context of smart cities in India.
