This research takes a critical examination of challenges facing SMEs in sourcing capital funds from financial institutions. This study is beneficial to researchers and scholars with the same research interest. There is a solid foundation for literature review for further researchers. The research findings are aimed at improving awareness among policy makers, planners, private sector development agencies and the general public about the problems affecting the funding of informal business operators in Zimbabwe. The research is also aimed at prompting government support and also the implementations of strategic interventions to prompt SME growth. The findings of this study contributes immensely to the development of the economy especially in the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing sector forms the backbone of most developing countries in the world.

Hama Aleck was born in Zimbabwe in 1979. He is a lecturer & a business consultant. He was educated at Bindura University of Science Education where he did his BBS Hons degree in B&F and a PGDTE. He holds an MBA with Zimbabwe Open University. Hama is a member of ZIM. He worked for Zimbabwe Open University as a finance Officer for 8 years.
