The book principally engrosses the syntheses and characterizations of a variety of nanomaterials and their useful applications in catalysis and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). In different chapters of the book, the author has made an attempt to give an idea about the synthesis of different Raman active nano-structured substrates as well as catalytically responsive nanomaterials. A comparative account of the materials in their efficacy of SERS and catalytic activity have been proved and of worth noting. Again possible mechanistic interpretations of the spectroscopic and catalytic results have also been prescribed. Finally the study reflects well the choosing and selectivity of nanomaterials to make them responsive in surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy and catalysis.

Dr Sougata Sarkar received his BSc and MSc in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, India. Subsequently he joined the research group of Professor Tarasankar Pal at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Presently Dr Sarkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, India.
