A number of processes in a process industry can be modeled using SOPDT models. It is of great importance to check the performance of controllers for this model and comment on the performance superiority of one over the other controller tuning techniques. In present book, process which can be modeled as SOPDT is considered for PID controller design and its performance analysis. A SOPDT model is selected and controller parameters are calculated to design PID controllers using three tuning techniques, i.e. Internal Model Control (IMC), Skogestad's Tuning Technique and Ziegler Nichols Tuning Technique. The closed loop responses thus achieved are compared and analysed for determining the set-point tracking capability of the controllers.
