Die Publikation legt erstmals einen Querschnitt durch das von Nachdenklichkeit bestimmte Werk eines Künstlers, dem die Welt am Herzen liegt. Unser Kosmos als Kernstück von Kunst - George Steinmann ist visueller Künstler, Musiker und Forscher. In seinen Mindmaps befasst er sich mit dem Zustand unseres Planeten. Die Poesie seiner meist kleinformatigen Blätter beruht auf Strukturen, auf eigengesetzlichen, chemischen Reaktionen und auf der Überzeugung, dass natürliche Substanzen auch in kleinen Dosen ein universelles Wissen speichern. Wachsen, auftauchen, verschwinden: George Steinmann versteht seine Mindmaps als Denkkosmos zwischen Wissenschaft und Spiritualität. In seiner Praxis arbeitet er mit natürlichen Substanzen, der Bewegungen von Farbe und Form, dem Überzeichnen und Beträufeln eigener Notizen. Zusammenhänge, in der Logik der Sprache kaum fassbar, verwandeln seine Mindmaps in geheimnisvolle Visionen und in Tiefenräume eines verletzlichen Kosmos.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Katrin Sperry ist Kuratorin und Kulturwissenschaftlerin. Seit 2021 leitet sie das Benzeholz – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst.
