Macaws

Macaws, the largest and perhaps most spectacular of all parrots, became the companions (and captives) of humans at an early stage, thanks to their conspicuous plumage and their fascinating communication and learning abilities. Meanwhile, we now know how endangered macaws are in their native territories, and intensive research is being carried out on their natural life habits and social behaviour. But even in captivity, it is possible to create conditions in which macaws can lead something approximating a natural existence. This book contains a wealth of important and up-to-date information on the behaviour, breeding and care of these birds, together with detailed profiles of individual macaw species, compiled by experts. Breathtaking photographs invite you to explore the natural habitats of the macaws, showing the birds in all their vivid colour splendour.
