A series of panoramic photographs were taken of an alpine view from the balcony of a mountain lodge called the Rechenau, near Kiefersfelden in Bavaria. Maryam and Rolf Sachs focused their camera on two majestic mountain peaks, Der Zahme Kaiser (The Tame Emperor) on the left and Der Wilde Kaiser (The Wild Emperor) on the right, that lie over the German border in Austria. The discipline for the project was rigorous, throughout 2004 the camera, which was housed in a purpose built shelter shot over 50,000 photographs, each taken every 10 and half minutes. The pictures succeed in capturing nature s ever changing moods.

Rolf Sachs wurde 1955 in Lausanne geboren, studierte Betriebswirtschaft und ist heute ein bekannter Möbel- und Objektdesigner in London. Er hat zahlreiche Bücher veröffentlicht. Auf seiner Website finden sich unter »Projects« weitere Informationen zu dem Projekt. Maryam Sachs wurde 1961 in Teheran geboren. Sie veröffentlichte "Der Mond", "Der Kuss" und andere Anthologien und hält ein Diplom in internationalen Beziehungen.

Maryam Sachs was born and raised in Iran. She has a degree in Political Science from the Sorbonne, Paris and a Masters Degree in Economic Development from Columbia University. Maryam is the author of "The Kiss" and "The Moon", both of which have been published in three languages. She is a Trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Rolf Sachs is a Swiss-passport-carrying European born in Lausanne. He studied mathematics at the London School of Economics and has a Bs in Business Administration from the Menlo School of Business Administration. Rolf Sachs is best known as an internationally renowned designer of furniture, lighting and objects and has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums worldwide. His work has appeared in numerous books and international publications. He is a board member for several companies, institutions and trusts. Maryam and Rolf have been married for twenty years and live with their three children in London and Europe.
