Damals tarnten Männermagazine sich als Filmzeitschrift, Humorgazette, Detektivheft, Kunstmagazin, Nudistenblatt oder „pikanter“ Roman. Band 2 dokumentiert das Aufblühen nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Zu verdanken war dies primär einer frechen kleinen Zeitschrift namens Playboy, die im Dezember 1953 zum ersten Mal erschien und mit ihrer sophistication schnell Nachahmer fand. Hier erfährt der geneigte Leser alles über die Entstehung der britischen Männermagazine und darf die Top-5-Covergirls der 1950er in Augenschein nehmen. Band 3 startet mit dem explosiven Wachstum des US-Marktes nach einer Lockerung der Unzuchtsgesetze in den späten Fünfzigern. Es ist eine Ära, in der die französische Magazinproduktion nachlässt, England seine perverse Seite zeigt und Deutschland wieder einmal politischen Aktivismus mit Nacktheit mischt. Dian Hanson was born in Seattle in 1951. For 25 years she produced various men’s magazines, including Puritan, Juggs and Leg Show, before becoming TASCHEN's sexy book editor in 2001. Her many books for TASCHEN include Vanessa del Rio: Fifty Years of Slightly Slutty Behavior, Tom of Finland XXL, and The Big Butt Book. She lives in Los Angeles.
