Die New Yorker Ikone der 1980er, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), signierte seine Werke zunächst mit dem Graffiti-Tag SAMO, bevor er zum Atelierkünstler und mit 20 Jahren weltberühmt wurde. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Leonhard Emmerling promovierte an der Universität Heidelberg mit einer Dissertation über die „Kunsttheorie Jean Dubuffets“. Er ist Leiter der Programmarbeit mit Regionalauftrag Südasien am Goethe Institut in Neu-Delhi; zuvor war er an verschiedenen deutschen Kunstinstitutionen als Kurator tätig. Zu seinen bisherigen Publikationen gehören TASCHENs Jean-Michel Basquiat und Jackson Pollock.
