Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
James Lovelock (1919–2022) war ein unabhängiger Wissenschaftler, Umweltaktivist und Urheber der Gaia-Theorie, die die Erde als lebendes und sich entwickelndes System betrachtet, das nach einer Selbstregulierung strebt, so dass das aktuelle Leben auf ihr gedeihen kann. Lovelock wurde zu den 100 führenden Intellektuellen der Welt gezählt (Prospect), als „wissenschaftlicher Visionär“ (The Times) und als „einer der größten Denker unserer Zeit“ bezeichnet.
