Blooms and blossoms are a widespread and frequently recurrent motif in the annals of art and indissolubly intertwined with human history. Floral symbolism and its religious significance abound in all period styles. Review:

This is an absolutely charming book. It is designed to look like a personal journal with an elastic band that stretches around the outside to keep private thoughts of the reader. One even finds "treasures" falling out of the book in the way that one would slip little items of remembrance into a diary - postcards of jewelry with floral motifs are scattered loosely throughout the book. ... What I like about this book is that it puts jewelry history in context. We who love jewelry are often myopic... we look at jewelry as a thing unto itself and it is not... it is one puzzle piece that fits into everything else that is going on in the fine art and the decorative art of a particular time period. --Adornment, Vol. 7, No. 1, Spring 2008
