With the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the threat of international terrorism - a threat to peace and stability - became evident to the world. Irina Wiegand was born in Essen, Germany. She studied Political Science, Roman languages and International Relations at Ruhr-University of Bochum, the University of Bremen and Jacobs University Bremen. Her research focuses on international security and terrorism. She is currently working on her PhD thesis at Jacobs University Bremen.
