This volume showcases his signature works in remarkable detail, including full-scale reproductions that reveal even the finest features such as delicate facial hair. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Kei Mieno is a hyperrealist painter born in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, in 1985, where he continues to reside. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Faculty of Art at Hiroshima City University in 2007, receiving the M Prize for his graduation work. In 2016, he was awarded the Special Prize at the 2nd Hoki Museum Grand Prize Exhibition. Since then, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions. Known for his meticulous and highly detailed approach, Mieno produces only a few paintings per year, often spending extended periods closely observing his subjects. His work Before Putting It into Words, which took approximately a year and a half to complete and is housed in the Hoki Museum, went viral on social media and brought him widespread attention beyond the art world, leading to features on major media programs such as TBS's NEWS23. He is also a close acquaintance of film director Shunji Iwai and served as the model for the protagonist in Iwai's novel Zero no Banshū.
