Witkin & Witkin is an intimate and striking book that brings together, for the first time, the work of two American artists: a photographer and a painter that not only share DNA - they are identical twins - but also uncanny thematic parallels. Through different voices, testimonies of the people closest to the brothers, both personally and professionally, the Witkin story is retold by family members, partners, models, students, collectors and promoters of their work.
Joel-Peter Witkin is an American photographer who has received many awards including several from the National Endowment for the Arts agency, a Ford Foundation Grant and the International Center of Photography Fourth Annual Award. His work is held in major collections including Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; The J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu, CA; Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain and George Eastman House, Rochester. Jerome Witkin is an American painter who has been recognised with several awards including a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Uffizi, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum. Trisha Ziff is a British curator, writer and filmmaker.
