This book is a project report submitted to the University of Leicester, UK to fulfill the requirement of degree. With the growing complexity of digital communication algorithms and user demand of high data-rates, it is becoming more challenging for hardware as well as software industry to fulfill the requirements of communication engineering. Communication systems promising high data-rates and high quality require high- speed digital signal processors (DSPs) and efficient implementation techniques. This situation has triggered research for digital implementation of complex communication algorithms, utilizing the available resources as economically as possible. To develop expertise in this area of research, in this project, a differentially detected binary phase-shift keying modem was implemented on a DSP platform. Hamming codes were used for error correction and the system was tested for AWGN channel with a range of noise intensity levels.
