In the vehicle suspension design the optimal suspension should fulfil the following basic requirements: the ride comfort, reduction of dynamic road-tyre forces, and reduction of relative motions between the vehicle bodies. Controllable suspension systems are required to improve the compromise between the conflicting demands. Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) are applied to the optimization of the control system parameters. EAs are computer-based techniques that mirror natural genetic evolution, and they have been found to be successful in application to a wide range of problems that are difficult to solve analytically.
