Lean Construction is a construction management philosophy which evolved from lean manufacturing principles like Just in time, Total quality Management, Continuous Improvement etc. The essence of lean construction lies in efficiency of elimination of non-value adding activities i.e anything which is considered as waste. This book covers (1) Application of Last Planner System for Scheduling of Construction activities (2) Measuring the productivity of form work activity and found that poor management control, poor planning and absence of workers during festive seasons were the factors responsible for productivity being not upto the mark and finally (3) Time Value analysis for determining the optimum labour requirement for specific construction activity by finding the percentage of direct work, indirect work and supporting work.

Dr. K.Srinivas, M.E, MBA, Ph.D, is presently working as Senior Faculty in National Academy of Construction, Hyderabad ( India). I worked for 13 years in National Institute of Construction Management & Research as Asst. Professor and another 13 years as Assistant Engineer in Ministry of Resources, Govt of India.
