Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy. Sometimes your body doesn’t make enough—or any—insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells. In order to overcome the issues with existing approaches, we propose the system to develop an image processing-based algorithm to extract the exudates from the images, by making sure all the above disadvantages are overcome. In order to identify the presence of exudates, fundus images are used. In our project, a novel algorithm will be developed by combining Image Processing and Machine Learning to detect exudates.

Dr. IYAPPARAJA M, he received Ph.D in Anna University, Chennai. BE and ME degrees from Anna University of Technology, Chennai and Coimbatore. Presently, he is an Associate Professor Grade II in SITE School, VIT, Vellore. He has 11 years of experience in teaching Machine Learning, Software Testing.He filed patent in machine learning in health care.
